This source montage, called "Dissection", was a 30-ft long wallpiece created in 2005 for "3 Five-Year Plans:Lawrence Gipe, 1990-2005" at the ASU Art Museum, Tempe, AZ. All the images, from Babies, Women, Men, Couples, Technology, Slogans, Landscapes, etc. come from ideologically irredeemable and/or hyperbolic, propagandistic sources such as Soviet photo annuals, Nazi-era tracts, French, Italian, Chilean, Chinese and Vietnamese books from during authoritarian eras, and images of "progress" from US World's Fairs and industrial/corporate magazines.
